Appreciating Cesar Chavez Day /programs/241-appreciating-cesar-chavez-day

This Program was created to inform residents about why we have a National Cesar Chavez' Holiday. Many did not even know who was Cesar Chavez nor his legacy as an as an educator, environmentalist, and a civil rights leader. In order to make the program interesting we and link all this to something the students can relate we showed a film called "Walkout". This film is about the Chicano civil rights movement and the time period when high school students walked out of high school aking for equal educational rights. The program allowed those who identified with the film to share their life experiences.

In order to recreate this program one has to look up the information on why we have a new national holiday that celebrates Cesar Chavez legacy.
