Halloween can be a very fun and exciting holiday. Even though Halloween is full of dressing up with costumes, however there's some guidelines that should be followed. In this program, I will explain cultural appropriation and how many times some of the costumes people wear can be very disrespectful to some cultures.

Students will have the opportunity to connect with professionals that are working in the field of Environmental Design. This program will enable Environmental Design students to gain insight about the specific career they are interested in as well as network with professionals. Before the ENV Speed Mentoring program students will have the option to go through a networking workshop with Resident Advisor Monet Boyd. She will give them tips on what questions to ask and how to follow-up, like a professional. The event is hosted by the College of Environmental Design.

In cooperation with the Southern California Engineering and Technology Association (SCETA), UHS is hosting an information session for engineering majors, and those who are interested in the associated careers to come and learn what SCETA has to offer, including resources for lab classes, a 3D printer, and other benefits. Following this, students are encouraged to visit the Career Fair for employment experience and opportunities.

Many times, mental health is a very taboo topic. Even though, mental health isn't talked about enough, mental illness is something that constantly affects college students around the world. Whether it be depression, anxiety, or chronic stress, mental illness is a real and present issue on college campuses. With this program, I will have a presenter from Counselling Services to talk about the mental health awareness and techniques to deal and cope with a variety of mental health issues.

Residents were split up into two teams and shown a series of stills from popular music videos as well as excerpts from music lyrics and identify the negative messages being portrayed. For the final round both teams were asked to find a song and music video that did not have any negative messages in it and present it to the group.

We will organize and take a group of residents to the museum of tolerance in Los Angeles. This museum is very powerful and will hopefully will inspire residents for further learning of social justice and diversity issues.

Residents will have a chance to come out and mingle with one another and learn about how diverse our building actually is. Along with this they can place a scale on a giant rainbow fish mural with the culture/ethnicity they identify with. As an incentive the first X amount of residents will receive a pet fish.

The purpose of this program is to educate and expose residents to the many possible ways an individual can serve their community. Residents will be served food and refreshments. A representative from the Center For Community Engagement will then give a brief presentation on the topic of Service Learning. The Resident Advisor will then give examples of service learning projects and tailor them to the passion and interest areas of the attendees. Finally, residents will be given an opportunity to plan their own individualized service learning project/event. A select number of residents will be given the opportunity to present their project idea. All residents will be given resources to help start and implement their project idea.

In this program, I will teach my residents the concept of recycling in a fun a creative way. I will have my residents do a fun DIY project using old soda bottles to show them how easy and fun recycling and reusing can be.

This event will take the entire two weeks where residents will be able to turn in their unused clothes to be donated to a philanthropic organization. We will have photos of the charity we are helping and their story.
